In Brasov

Windows 98' country

semi-overcast 28 °C

So, no photos now. We hope that in Bucharesti (arriving tomorrow), that they will have something faster.

Jim got food poisoning in Sighisoara, so was "out" for the train trip here to Brasov (he's fully recovered now). Met a nice girl from Germany and another from Italy sharing our car. What a surprise when we disembarked to hear Jim's name called out. The angel of a hostel owner met us at the train station, which was good because I lost my diary and itenerary at some point the night before. We left Sighisoara the day the Medevil Festival started. The product being major amounts of alcohol and urinating in the streets. I'll pass on that one.

Today went to Bran Castle. Charming, I could really live in a place like that. Much cheerier than you would imagine. Actually, it was never Vlad Tepes' (dracula's) castle, but may have been a refuge for him at one time. The inhabitants in the pictures were Queen Maria of Romania and Princess Ileana (circa 1920-30). The bus ride was quite a trip. A 40 minute ride with a bus stuffed to the gills. Just when we thought we couldn't possibly fit any more, a nice old couple (with their large dog) squeezed in. The spirits were high and (thank God) they belived in open windows).

Went to the Western Bar (a Texas cowboy theme) around the corner from our hostel for a refresher. Fixin' to go to a restaurant that serves a Brown Bear Goulash for dinner. Will update later.

Until Then...
